About Us

Our Story
Vedha for Little Minds began with a simple bedtime ritual. I wanted my toddler to grow up understanding and speaking Tamil, so we started learning numbers and colors together at night. The joy on his face as he picked up new words was unforgettable. He even shared them proudly at school, surprising adults who admitted they didn’t know some of those words themselves.

That got me thinking: many of us in diaspora communities don’t speak Tamil fluently anymore. At home, I only used it with elders, and without them around, my son wasn’t naturally exposed to it. If I wanted him to carry our language forward, I had to be intentional. And I quickly discovered I wasn’t alone, many other parents felt the same way. That's then the first book was created.

Why Hindu Stories Too?
My passion for culture goes back to my own childhood. I remember reading a Mickey Mouse Around the World book that featured India and talked about Goddess Lakshmi and Diwali. That book made me want to learn more about our culture and religion. It sparked curiosity, pride, and a love for the lessons and values the stories hold.

Now as a parent, I want to create that same spark for today’s kids. Our books don’t just teach Tamil words; they retell timeless Hindu stories in a way that’s gentle, vibrant, and age-appropriate — so children can connect with the language and values of our culture in a joyful way.

Our Mission
“Vedha” means knowledge and wisdom, derived from the Sanskrit root vid- (“to know”), and tied to the oldest Hindu scriptures, the Vedas. At Vedha for Little Minds, we carry that spirit forward by creating books that make it easy for families to pass on language, celebrate traditions, and raise children who feel proud of their roots.
